The userID and password combination is the most ubiquitous form of security used in virtually every
application, system and data protection solution today. Every industry including finance, banking,
healthcare, digital rights management, government, and technology utilize this combination as a
basic capability for securing access. Unfortunately, passwords alone have proved largely insufficient
in securing corporate assets and preventing fraud.
A persons username and password can be shared or stolen. Their biometric typing pattern cannot!
Raw measurements available from most every keyboard can be recorded to determine Dwell
time (the time a key pressed) and Flight time (the time between “key down” and the next “key down” and
the time between “key up” and the next “key up”). The recorded keystroke timing data is then processed
through a unique neural algorithm, which determines a primary pattern for future comparison.
